Christoph was born in the municipality of Lindhorst in Lower Saxony, Germany. He was the son of Heinrich Christoph "Christoph" Hitzemann, and Anna Maria Reese. He emigrated to the USA in the 1850's, and married Engel Beethe in llinois in 1863.
He was a farmer and pioneer; he owned land in Pawnee County, Nebraska. He and his family lived in a cabin in the country on their land.
Christoph was the father of Heinrich Fredrich, William, Christoph Karl, Anna Maria Louise, Karl Ludwig Gustav, and Emil Herman, as well as a couple of children that died at birth.
∼He married Engel Sophie Wilhelmine (Beethe).born Mar. 6, 1843, at Todenmann, Schaumburg, Germany, d. Mar. 13, 1909 at Steinauer, Pawnee, NE.
In the Beethe family history, Gustav was called Christopher. the names may have been reversed.
