From 1950 to 1955, Shirley served in religious life as Sister Mary Frances Cabrini of The Sisters of St. Anne. She received training in Montreal, Canada, and taught elementary children at parochial schools in Montreal and Webster, MA. until 1955 when she left the convent.
In 1956 Shirley married her teenage sweetheart, James V. Williams. They resided in Charlton, MA where they raised their eight children. In 1975, Shirley and Jim purchased a home in South Yarmouth, MA, and retired there in 1997. Shirley worked for Iandoli Supermarkets, Nabhan Beauty Supplies and retired from Castle Metals in Worcester in 1994.
She is survived by her children: James G. and wife Donna Williams of Charlton, Pauline W. and husband Cliff Blake of Dover, NH, Jeanne F. Williams and partner Bruce Maines of Cumberland, RI, Carol E. and husband John Kavorkian, Jr. of Charlton, Sandra A. and husband Harold Churchill of Charlton, Gail A. and husband Kenneth Blais of Thompson, CT, Janet L. McInerney of W. Yarmouth and John S. Williams of S. Yarmouth; six grandchildren: Darcie and Jenna Blake, Katie and Kristin Kavorkian, and Courteney and Lianna Churchill. Siblings, Mary Claire Brackenrich of Stuart, FL, Robert Boucher of Worcester, John Boucher of Princeton, NJ, Diane Ferriera of Bellingham, sisters-in-law Lorraine Boucher, Bernadette "Bunny" Boucher, Joannie Williams, many nieces, nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, James V. "Looney" Williams, brothers Louis A. Boucher and Norman G. Boucher, and brother-in-law J. Paul Williams.
Shirley was "the best mother in the whole wide world." When not doting on her family, she enjoyed visiting with relatives and friends. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening and trading stocks. She was a woman of strength, determination and humor, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
