Allen Walker Betts, 87, former long-time resident of Denver, died July 8, 2005 in Vancouver, WA. He is survived by his sisters: Marjorie Betts Seiser of Vancouver, WA and Edith Betts of Salem, OR; seven nieces and nephews: Virginia, Nancy, John, Daniel, Steven, Patricia and Pamela Seiser; a grand nephew, Dale Seiser; and a great-grand nephew, Sebastian Seiser. Allen was born January 3, 1918 in Portland Oregon. He graduated from University of Maryland with a master's in industrial arts. He served in the Army in WWII in Guam. He taught industrial arts for several years before a civilian career as an Army procurement inspector based in Pennsylvania. He retired to Denver where he had historical connections: his mother Edna Cantril Betts was a Denver native, his father Clifford Betts was a civil engineer who worked on the Moffat Tunnel, and his grandfather Simeon Cantril was a Leadville deputy marshall who later headed the Denver Tramway. He had many community interests. He used his shop skills as a volunteer with the Denver-area schools, building adaptive equipment for disabled students. He was a devoted brother, loving uncle, good neighbor,and faithful friend who will be deeply missed. Services 1:00 PM Monday at Fairmount Mortuary Chapel.
