Edith Betts
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at the First Methodist Church in Salem for Edith Betts of Salem, formerly of Lane County, who died Dec. 13 following a stroke. She was 90.
She was born July 28, 1921, in Denver to Clifford and Edna Cantril Betts.
She held a bachelor of science degree from the University of Wisconsin, master's degree from Smith College and a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon. She served with the American Red Cross in Europe from 1945 to 1946. She was an educator at the University of Nebraska and Smith College, and was chairwoman of the women's physical education department at the University of Idaho.
