Funeral Serivices to be Tuesday; Burial in Robinson (This is incorrect, burial was in File Cemetery) Mrs. Ella Mae Markey, widow of John Markey, who had resided in the Pocahontas area prior to moving to Greenville 10 years ago, died at 8:20 a. m. Sunday at Utlaut Memorial Hospital (now Greenville Regional Hospital). Mrs. Markey had been in failing health several months, and for the past year had been making her home with her sister Nina File in Greenville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. at the Donnell Funeral Home, where friends may call. The Rev. Edward Harper, Pastor of the Pocahontas Methodist church, of which she was a member, will officiate. Interment will be in File cemetery, west of Greenville.
Mrs. Markey was bron Octorber 2, 1890 daughter of John and Julia (File) Lutz and was aged 78 years, five months and 14 days. She married John Markey, December 7, 1909, in Greenville, and after their marriage continued to live in the Pocahontas area. Mr. Markey died in July 1945. She later moved to Greenville.
Surivior include two sons, John L. Markey of Reno, and Louie N. Markey of Pocahontas; Two daughters, Mary, wife of Joe Jenner of north of Greenville and Julia, wife of Donald Pasley of Vandalia; 12 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; a step great-grandson and the following brothers and sisters: Charles and John Lutz; of this city, Lloyd Lutz of Alhambra, Mrs. Nina File; Iva, wife of Ray Gannon; Goldie, wife of Walter Rench, and Mrs. Edith Gowan all of this city. To sisters Mrs. Bertha Sapp and Mrs. Bessie Green, and five brothers and sisters who died in childhood, and a son, samul who died at the age of 12 years, have preceeded her in death.
