United States 8th Air Force Memorial Stone – Royal Air Force Museum, Hendon, England

This monument commemorates all those who lost their lives whilst serving with the 8th Air Force in the United Kingdom between 1942 and 1945.

The memorial stone was first erected in a garden dedicated to memory of the fallen at the Liverpool International Garden Festival in May 1884 by the 8th Air Force Historical Society; redevelopment of the site has resulted in its re-location at Hendon.

The aircraft featured on the tablet are, from top to bottom, Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, Consolidated B24 Liberator, Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, Lockheed P-38 Lightning and North American P-51 Mustang.

The memorial was produced and donated to the 8th AFHS by the Shreveport Monument Company.
