Upon his discharge, Bob met and married Beryl Gilbertson, fresh from England, in San Francisco. Bob joined the US Foreign Service with the newly created Agency for the International Development (USAID) and for the next 35 years was posted in the developing countries of Pakistan, Panama, Ecuador, Bolivia, Kenya, and Honduras.
Bob was first and foremost a Christian, loving husband and father, amazing abuelito, curious world traveler, passionate fisherman, and teller of tales with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. His simple and humble relationship with Jesus Christ will continue to inspire and teach us.
Bob was deeply loved, and he will be missed. Bob survived by his wife of 50 years, Beryl, son Stephen, daughter Rebecca and son-in-law Scott Schucany, son Andrew and daughter-in-law Michelle, son John, son Richard and daughter-in-law Shelah, grandsons Ryan, Kyle, and Jack, granddaughters Michaela, Kristen, Ashley and Hannah, and brother Don and sister-in-law Sherrie of Kansas City.
He is further survived by extended relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Louie Adams, a brother Lou Adams, and beloved daughter, Anne Elizabeth.
A memorial service to clebrate Bob's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 12, 2009, at First United Methodist Church, 2201 East Hebron, Carrollton, Texas 75010. Reverend Richard Dunagin will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Bob Adam's memory be made to Wycliffe Bible Translators, P. O. Box 628200, Orlando, Florida 32862 or the American Cancer Society.
