Anna's family moved from Jennings County, IN to Bartholomew County, IN in 1862; it is not certain which month but the odds favor the move was made before her birth so Bartholomew County will be used here until information indicates she was born elsewhere.

Anna joined the United Brethren Church, St. Omer, which was the church adjacent to this cemetery, one year before her demise. Anna Pearce's funeral took place at the U.B. church on Sunday, Feb. 1, 1891 at 10:30 a.m. Anna died suddenly within weeks of the death of her daughter, one month earlier, which had weighed heavily on her, per "In Memoria" published in a local newspaper

It went on, "Anna was well esteemed in our community, and we feel that in losing her we have lost a friend, one that we miss, one that had always been a faithful wife, a true mother, a kind neighbor, and a devoted Christian. Anna did not get to bid adieu to her family and many friends as she was called away, as many others are, without a moment's warning."

Anna Hess Pearce's family was from Germany; one brother remained in the St. Paul, IN area, where he operated a tavern and raised purebred hunting dogs; extended Hess family members migrated to Santa Clara, and later Sonora, California.

Children: Orla Estil Pearce, City Cemetery, Connersville, IN FindAGrave No. 46619347;
Edna Pearce, St. Omer Cemetery, Find A Grave Memorial# 63511583
Fannie Pearce, St. Omer Cemetery, Find A Grave Memorial# 63511831
