J. W. Hollabaugh, 79, died at 10 o'clock Sunday morning at his home on 606 N Donald, Seymour, Texas. His death followed an illness of the last three years, and with his being in a more critical condition for the past month.

John Wilton Hollabaugh was born Oct 9, 1878 in Waynesboro, Tenn. the second son of Frederick William and Virginia Elizabeth (Wisdom) Hollabaugh. His Mother died shortly after his younger brother, Jacob, was born August 20, 1881. He traveled by covered wagon with his Father, Oscar (older brother) and Baby Jacob soon after that to Texas. He was called Johnny as a young boy. They traveled in a caravan of covered wagons along with several of Frederick's brothers with their families, and settled in the Mountain Peak Community of Ellis County.

He married Miss Isabel McBrayer of Ellis County on December 23, 1900. To this union, six children were born being Tessie (1901), Bessie (1904), Lillie (!907), Juanita (1909), Fred, (1910) and Lois (1914). The family left Mountain Peak Community in 1917 traveling in a caravan of three covered wagons to a farm (160 acres) in Knox County, one mile east of Vera. They lived on their farm until two years ago when they bought a home and moved to Seymour.

Mr Hollabaugh had been an active member of the Methodist church for 60 years. He had been a member of Vera Methodist Church for over 40 years serving as one of the leading members until his health failed three years ago. He was also active in community affairs, and always responded to every call of duty in any move for the advancement of his loved ones and friends.

The deceased is survived by his wife, Isabel, " Missy" to him; one son, Fred Hollabaugh (Lera) of Arlington, Texas; five daughters: Mrs Tessie Actkinson (Oliver) of Arlington, Mrs Bessie Hobbs of Jal, New Mexico, Mrs Lillie Taylor (Pat) of Mabelle, Texas, Mrs Juanita Irby (Alvin) of Wichita Falls and Lois Robertson of Dallas. Grandpa Hollabaugh is survived by twenty-four grandchildren: Elmer, Irene, Margie, Wallace, Ruth, Kathleen, Ola, and Nancy Actkinson; Doris, Peggy, Leon, and Jewel Hobbs; Francis, Eugene, Charlotte, Dorothy and Junior Taylor; Noel and Holly Irby; Charles, Jo Ann and Patsy Hollabaugh and Judy and Robby Robertson; thirty-six great grandchildren; one sister, Ermon Oliver, of Dallas; and eight brothers: Grady Hollabaugh, Ed Hollabaugh and Ollie Hollabaugh, all of Dallas, Roy Hollabaugh of Midlothian:, Willie Hollabaugh of Irving, Alton Hollabaugh of Waxahachie, Robert Hollabaugh of Arlington and Earl Hollabaugh of McKinney.

The deceased is preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Virginia Hollabaugh; his step mother, Belle Hollabaugh; four grandchildren; Buddy Actkinson, Lillie Patricia Taylor, Penny Irby and Wanda Hollabaugh; son-in-law, Alvin Robertson; one sister, Izorah Wilson; three brothers; Oscar Hollabaugh, Jacob Hollabaugh and Carmy Hollabaugh.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 Monday afternoon at the Vera Methodist Church, Vera, Texas. The services were in the charge of Rev, S. A. Wolfe of Moran, former pastor of the church, and assisted by Rev. Ernest McGaughey and Rev Gene Louder, both of Vera.

Interment was in the Vera Cemetery under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home, Seymour, Texas. Pallbearers were Ray Havins, Charles Hollabaugh, Eugene Taylor, Elmer Actkinson, Wallace Actkinson and Leon Hobbs. The children all attended the funeral plus most members of their families.

Mr Hollabaugh's memory will live long in the hearts of his loved ones and friends.
