Married Nancy Ann Reynolds on November 3, 1798 in Madison County, Virginia.

I Charles Emmons of the County of Lawrence and State of Illinois considering the uncertainty of this Mortal life and being of sound mind and memory, Blessed be Almighty God for the same, do make and publish this my last will. Last will and Testament in the manner and form following, (That is to say. First I request that my wife Nancy Emmons sell off property either at public sale such of my property as she may think proper and pay off all my just debts. And as to the rest residue and remainder of my Estate both real and personal of what kind or nature soever. After one horse beast a cow and calf, bed and bedding, be given out to my daughter Polley Emmons - I give and bequeath the same to my said wife Nancy Emmons during her life. And one third of the same, I give and bequeath to my said wife Nancy Emmons to be entirely at her disposal. And the other two thirds I give and bequeath the same to my children at the death of my said wife. (Viz) Westly B. Emmons, St.Clair F. Emmons, Charles D. Emmons, Patsey R. Pinkstaff, Wiley S. Emmons, Elizabeth K. Adams, Thorton L. Emmons, Fanny P. Emmons and Polley H. Emmons to be equally divided between them and I hereby appoint that my said wife Nancy Emmons have right to do and perform all things that states to this my last will and testament and at any time hereafter if there should be any property to spare to sell the same and make use of the same as she may think proper for the use of herself and family hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal the 27th day of April in the year of Our Lord 1838)."
