He married Francoise Leonore Marchand-Maillot on 4 July 1833 in Aïssey, Doubs, Franche-Compté, France. They had four sons, 1 died in France and remaining 3 immigrated to the U.S. with their parents, Maximin, Joseph, and Auguste. His step-son Virgile immigrated with them.
