Daughter of William Bulfin [1864-1910] and Anne O'Rourke Bulfin. She was secretary to Austin Stack, one of the leaders of those opposed to the Anglo-Irish Treaty of 1922, fighting on the anti-Treaty side in the Civil War

Wife of Sean MacBride, married on 26 January 1925, at University Church, St. Stephen's Green, Dublin. The marriage taking place in great secrecy, both of them being on the Irish Government's "wanted" list of those republicans who were still at large.
