Mrs. Clarissa E. Young, wife of Richard Young, died at his home in what is known as Cove district of this village, Saturday night, aged seventy-nine years. She had been ill with consumption for a long time. She leaves two sons, George and Henry Young of East Brookfield, also six grandchildren. The funeral was Monday afternoon at two o'clock at the house, Rev. J. C. Duncanson officiating. The bearers were J. H. Conant, Leander Morse, Chester Shafer and William Slocomb.

Clarissa was the daughter of William Watson and Matilda Prouty (b. 1799), granddaughter of William Prouty (b. 1778), great granddaughter of Isaac Prouty (b 1750, FAG # 31048140 and his wife Anna Dunnell Prouty, great granddaughter of Stephens Hatch FAG # 23443254 and Ruth Pryor). Isaac was private in Cap't Wolcotts co of Revolutionary War soldiers who marched from Brookfield and Spencer to Dorchester Hgts. [DAR No. 825-289 Therese Boucher]
