"Joseph Akins, fruit gardner, a few miles from Greesburg, Westmoreland, PA. Shot and killed instantly his wife on the 6th inst and after telling his nearest neighbor that he had killed the old woman placed the muzzle of the gun under his chin and fired and killed himself.
The trouble is believed to have risen from a quarrel about a little piece of property where they lived."
