Eva Sue Carroll, 75, of Etowah, died Tuesday evening, Oct. 21, 2003, at McMinn Memorial Nursing Home in Etowah.

A daughter of the late Jim and Annie Brock Newman, she was a lifelong resident of McMinn County. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and a former employee of Woods Memorial Hospital and Etowah Health Care Center, in the dietary department. She was preceded in death by one sister, Wilma Dean White.

Survivors include her husband, T.J. Carroll of Etowah; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Dianne Akins of Etowah, Nancy and Don Newman of Greenville, S.C., and Susan and Chris Hensley of Etowah; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael and Gail Carroll of Cummin, Ga., Tim and Kay Carroll of Rockhill, S.C., and Greg Carroll of Etowah; two brothers and one sister-in-law, J.C. and Wilva Newman of Maryville, and Dwayne Newman of Etowah; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the south chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Dr. Jimmy McCarter officiating. Burial will follow in Mars Hill Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
