PORTERVILLE (Tulare Co.), April 12 – Private funeral rites were held this morning in the Loyd-Frietzsche Chapel for Mrs. Emma Gilmer Abbey, 82, with Rev. J. A. Milligan of the First Congregational Church officiating. Mrs. Abbey died yesterday in the family home, following a long illness. Mrs. Abbey, a daughter of Rufus Gilmer who came to California during the gold rush, was born at what is now Placerville, then Hangtown, August 11, 1858, and was 1 year old when the Gilmer family moved to Tulare County and settled near Farmersville.
