Rollin Boughton, Jr., 78, Watseka, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka.
He was born May 22, 1930, in Watseka, the son of Rollin Sr. and Emma Gerber Boughton.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
He was a carpenter for many years, worked at Uarco early in life, and operated the Marathon gas station in Watseka from 1960-1962.
He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Watseka where he was an elder and the Watseka American Legion Post 23, where he was commander in 1964.
He enjoyed bowling, fishing, reading, woodworking and playing the piano.
Rollin married Vonna Knerr July 3, 1964, in Watseka. She survives in Watseka.
Also surviving is a daughter, Evelyn Ferry of Elgin; a son and daughter-in-law, Rollin L. and Patricia Boughton of Watseka; one step-daughter, Angela Rutledge of Watseka; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ruth Pree and Elsie Dirks; two brothers-in-law, Donald Pree and Dick Dirks.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tom McCann officiating.
Burial will be in Iroquois Memorial Park in Watseka with a graveside service by the American Legion Post 23 and the Iroquois County VFW Post 7450.
Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice, the Watseka Library, or donor's choice.
