Services for Harrold E. Hoyer, 85, of Black Hawk, who died Sunday at the Fort Meade Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Sturgis, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Fort Meade Chapel. Chaplain Jim Forbes will officiate.
Visitation will be from 1 1 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at F.O. Jolley Funeral Home in Sturgis.
Burial will be in Black Hills National Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the Fort Meade hospital.
He was born May 28, 1906, at Page, Neb., to John W. and Lydia (Lull) Hoyer. He served in the Army during World War II from 1941 to 1945.
He married Frances Reynolds on Nov. 6, 1945, at Sundance, Wyo. He worked at many schools but devoted most of his life to raising a large family on the family's ranch.
Surviving are his wife; four sons; five daughters; 30 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and one grandson.
