: Mrs. Mary Anna Diem, 84, whose parents were among the first settlers in St. Nazianz more than 100 years ago, died Wednesday night at the home of her son, Henry of Rt. 1, Kiel.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Holy Trinity
Catholic Church, School Hill. Burial will be in St. Gregory Cemetery,
St. Nazianz.
She was born Mary Anna Durst in St. Nazianz in 1869. Her parents the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Durst, came to the county with the settlers who founded St. Nazianz. In 1890 she was married to Henry Diem, and after a few years residence in St. Nazianz they moved to the farm in Meeme, now operated by her son. She was a member of the Christian Mothers. Her husband died 12 years ago.
Survivors are a son, Henry of Rt. 1, Kiel; two grandchildren and a great grandchild.
Friends may call at the Kellenbenz Funeral Home, St. Nazianz, where
the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday.

wife of Henry [married May 27, 1890 at St. Gregory] -only child of Jacob Durst and Mathilda Schweitzer -born Town of Eaton -When the Diem family moved from their newhome on West Court to a farm east of School Hill in 1914, Mary Anna "also had to leave her sewing business which she did out of her home. She was an excellent seamstress and also instructed to many women in the village.
