FAMILY HISTORY:
Isaac Ellis. sR. was born July 16, 1780 in Warren County, North Carolina son of Isaac Spencer Ellis and Eizabeth McCord. He died in Cooper County, Missouri in December 1859.

He married Martha Shipley, February 6, 1806 in Barren County, Kentucky. They had ten children.

The marriage record of Isaac Ellis and Martha Shipley is recorded in Barren County, Kentucky in the court's marriage record books and in THE REGISTER OF KENTUCKY STATE HISTORICAL SOCIETY VOL. 11 #65, May 1924, application signed by Isaac Ellis (mark) and Robert Shipley (mark).

Isaac and Martha (Shipley) Ellis, along with nephew, Willis Ellis, son of Isaac's brother, Abraham and a nephew of Martha's, Robert Shipley, came to Missouri about 1818 after living in Kentucky about 10 years.

The book, PORTRAIT AND BIOGRAPHICAL RECORD OF JOHNSON AND PETTIES COUNTIES, MISSOURI, Chapman Publishing Company, published in 1895 states: "Isaac and Patsy (Shipley) Ellis were natives of Kentucky and lived there until 1818". It also states that Isaac was one of the earliest settlers in Missouri and was well and favorably known. It states that Isaac and Patsy (Shipley) Ellis had ten children.
