COOPER COUNTY, MISSOURI CEMETERY RECORD VOL. X, compiled by the Cooper County, Missouri Historical Society, Boonville, Missouri, published by Elizabeth Prather Ellsberry, Chillicothe, Missouri, 1982, page: 60, researched by Richard Parker

Isaac Ellis was born in Spottsylvania County, Virginia about 1760 and died in Gates County, North Carolina after 1830. His wife, Elizabeth McCord Spencer was born in 1763 and died after 1840. They were married in 1780.
There is a Isaac Ellis listed in the Revolution Soldiers of Virginia, Volume 8, page 153 who served as a private in Captain Zackquill Morgan's Company of Militia. This Isaac Ellis (not his son, Isaac Spencer Ellis, as mention) would have been old enough to serve being 16-17 years of age but this notation has not been confirmed as being our Isaac Ellis.
They had other children: Willian - 1781, Thomas Spencer Ellis - 1783, Abram or Abraham - 1785, John, Mary, Rachel, and others.
Their son, Isaac Spencer Ellis was the husband of Martha (Patsey) Shipley and the first to have Spencer as a middle name, Isaac Spencer Ellis.
My grandfather was Thomas Spencer Ellis and this information comes to me in our Ellis Family Genealogy papers.
