Josephine Raney, 89, of Jasper, died Tuesday, Jan. 20 (2009) at Hospice House in Harrison.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at Jasper Assembly of God Church with Pastor Steve Holt officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at the church. Burial will be at Jasper Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Raney, Mike Madewell, Scott Hicks, Jarrett Davis and Ronnie Daniels. Honorary pallbearers include Travis Daniels and Monica Jarrett. Arrangements are by Christeson Funeral Home.

The daughter of Walter and Sarah (Farmer) Arbaugh was born Jan. 20, 1920, at Mt. Sherman. She was a member of the Jasper Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed quilting, canning and a good sense of humor. She loved to cook, especially chocolate cake and cherry pie. She lived for and loved to take care of her family, who she deeply loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Samuel Paul Raney; six sisters; and three brothers.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Earl R. and Erika Raney of Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Doyne Kelley of Greenbrier, Pauline and Larry Madewell of Jasper and Kathryn and Gary Hicks of Deer; a brother and sister-in-law, H.L. "Pete" and Olgi Arbaugh of Post Falls, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
