Irene (Rena) Gibeault was born in Worcester on April 21, 1924, the daughter of Harry James Fenner and Laura Julia Barton Fenner. She was one of twelve and one of their middle children.

Irene married Maurice Gibeault in 1949. They had three children: Richard Gibeault of Somerville, Marie Whitman of Worcester and Abu Dhabi and Donna Gibeault of Somerville. For many years, Mrs. Gibeault was an avid craftsperson, as well as, a long time member of St. Ann's Church in Somerville. At the time of her death, she had three grandchildren.
