Obituary ~ Salt Lake Tribune, Salt Lake City, Utah, Wed., 22 December 1999, Page B5

"Born to Elizabeth Bourne and Abner Chipman (son of William Henry Chipman, grandson of Stephen L. Chipman, Pioneer), in Magrath, Alberta, Canada.

Mary Ann, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed on peacefully in the arms of her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Boyd (Robert). Preceded in death by her husbands, Roselle V. Dodge, Halsel E. Wilhite, Sr., by her sister, Pearl Laursen and her brother, Mark Chipman.

Survived by her sisters, Mildred May of Salt Lake City; Bernyce Pulley of Portland, Oregon; Phyllis Taylor of Lehi, Utah; and brothers, Elija Chipman (Alta) of Sandy, Utah; and Dr. Curtis Chipman (Daphne) of Arlington, Virginia; sister-in-law, Lena Chipman of Salt Lake City; and many special nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann's sweet and supportive nature will be missed by her family; grandsons, William Boyd and David Boyd (Laura), great granddaughters, Emily Boyd and Jamie Boyd, all of Salt Lake City.
Mary Ann was also privileged to have an extended family: Stephen Halsel E. Wilhite, Jr. (Louise) of Bemidji, Minnesota and their children, Lisa Hoyt and Vicki Holland of Bemidji, Evette Hanshaw (Mark) of Dallas, Texas, and Halsel E. Wilhite III (Jill) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and by stepdaughter, Carmelia Sheley of Willow, California.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Murray Care Center for their tender concern during Mary Ann's brief stay.

A viewing will be held Thursday, December 23rd from 6-8 p.m. at Deseret Mortuary, 36 E. 700 South in Salt Lake City. Graveside services will be held Monday, December 27th at 11 a.m. at American Fork Cemetery, American Fork, Utah.

'The loss of a mother is always severely felt, even though her health may incapacitate her from taking an active part in the care of her family, still she is a sweet rallying-point around which affection and obedience and a thousand tender endeavors to please concentrate, and dreary is the blank when such a point is withdrawn.' - Lomartine"
