Willie was the son of Louis D. Dortch Sr. and Irene Elizabeth Haneline Dortch. He married "Pearl" Hattie Pearl Fisher Dortch on October 7, 1916 at the age of 20. He and Pearl had five children, "Wash" Noah Washington Dortch of Missouri, "Blackie" Clarence Leonard Dortch of California, and three babies who died at birth.

Following Pearl's death in 1924, Willie married Elsie Branch Dortch and they had a son "Dempsey" William Isaac Dortch Jr. in 1925.

Willie died of pneumonia on November 3, 1925 at the age of 29 according to his son Blackie.

He is buried with his first wife Pearl at Harvey's Chapel Cemetery in Marmaduke, Greene, Arkansas. Their gravestone is to the immediate left of Willie's mother Irene Elizabeth Haneline Dortch.

Pearl and Willie's three babies are buried next to them in an unmarked grave according to their son Blackie and his aunt Ellen Maybelle Dortch Hatcher.
