Agnes was the daughter of Edmund Hendley Richards Sr. [1783] and Sarah Ann Warren [1778] of near Rocky Mount in Franklin Co VA. In 1814, at age 4, she moved with her parents and other relatives from Franklin Co into Robertson Co TN [just to the north of Nashville]. There she grew into young womanhood to the east of Springfield TN on the family's farm.

Agnes married Edward Adcock [1801] at age 15 in 1825, himself born near Richmond VA. Edward's father Henry had also relocated to TN from VA, living near the Richards family. Four years later, in the fall of 1829, Agnes moved with Edward to North Otter Twsp of Macoupin Co IL [which was organized that year]. Her father and siblings followed them there in 1830.

She and Edward made their home on their own purchased land adjacent to the Richards [Edmund Sr., Edmund Jr., Enoch], Stewart [Charles, John, Zachariah], and Chapman [John D.] fields. Edward became one of the larger landowners in that area. Agnes was mother to these children:
1. an unknown child [1825]
2. Henry [1828]
3. Edmund Hendley [1829] +Hester Coverdill
4. Beverly [1831] +Louisa Eads
5. Caleb [1834] killed in Civil War
6. Sarah Ann [1836]
7. William [1841]
8. Charity [1843]
9. James [1846]
10. Martha A. [1850]

Agnes died an untimely death when the horse she and one of her little ones was upon, led by son Caleb, shied and reared--throwing her off. The baby was saved, but Agnes lost her life. She was only 43 years of age. Agnes was buried at her father Edmund's home place in section 30 of North Otter Township of Macoupin Co.
