Leslie Nix, age 51, Red River County Tax Assessor Collector, of Clarksville, passed away, Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at her residence.

Leslie was born March 1, 1957 in Butte Montana to Jim and Dorothy Favors Power. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Leslie was Red River County Tax Assessor Collector for 18 years. My wife, our mother, our daughter, our MeMe, sister and friend - She was the foundation of our family, the bond that holds us all together. She taught us many lessons, now more than ever. She cared compassionately about others and turned chaos into order. Conquering two bouts with breast cancer brought her true unshakable faith in God. She left this Earth peacefully in God's hands, just the way she prayed it would happen. She knew this day was near, and we find peace in a letter she left for us, "I am going to heaven - see you all there"!

Survivors include her husband, David Nix of Clarksville; mother and father, Jim and Dorothy Power of Clarksville; son, Brandon Nix and wife Tami of Tyler, daughters, Ashlyn Nix of Tyler and Alisha Rhoades and husband Sean of Paris, grandchildren, Presley, Luke and Chance Rhoades and Kora Nix; sister, Vickie Powell and husband Bobby of Ft. Worth.
