John Fernandez is the son of Eulalio Fernandez (1822-1955) and Maria Elana Fernandez (nee Fernandez).

He married Elvezia "Betsy" Rossi.

San Luis Obispo County (California) Telegram Tribune published Thursday, Jun 3, 1965:

John Fernandez.
The rosary will be recited Friday at 8 p.m. in the Reis Colonial Chapel for John Fernandez, 78, of San Luis Obispo, who died Wednesday in a San Luis Obispo hospital. Requiem mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Old Mission.
Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery.
Mr. Fernandez was born Jun 19, 1886 in San Luis Obispo, and received his education here.
A lifelong resident of San Luis Obispo, Mr. Fernandez was employed for 41 years by the city as a foreman in the public works department. He retired about nine years ago. Mr. Fernandez is survived by his widow, Mrs. Elvizia (sic: Elvezia) Fernandez of San Luis Obispo, one son, John Fernandez; five daughters, Mrs. Theresa Terres of Mountain View, Mrs. Henry Higuera of San Luis Obispo, Mrs. Virginia Wies (sic: Weis) of Pomona, Mrs. Caroline Phillips of Arroyo Grande and Mrs. Florence Leal of Petaluma. He is also survived by two brothers, Charles Fern (article clipped).

NOTE: At the time of John's death, his daughter, Florence Leal, lived in Santa Maria, not Petaluma. She never lived in Petaluma.
