"Lettsville. Monday, April 14.

The funeral of Grandmother Harrison took place from the residence of D. Thompson, last Wednesday [April 9, 1890].

Mrs. Mary Meadows was born in Jones Co., N.C. February 22, 1809, removed with her husband [Francis Harrison] to Muscatine County in 1857. She was the mother of ten children, five of whom are living, viz: I[saac] Harrison of Letts; Mrs. J[ohn] Eade, of Muscatine; Mrs. D[aniel] Thompson of this county, and Frank and William of Stafford County, Kansas. She departed this life April 7, aged 81 years, 1 month and 16 days. She has been a member of the M.E. Church for 40 years and in the last few years as her bodily strength declined, her spiritual strength increased."

"Died, Mrs. Mary Harrison, at the residence of her son-in-law, Daniel Thompson, of general debility, being nearly 82 years of age. Funeral from the house to-day at 2 o'clock; sermon by Rev. Dr. Johnson; interment at the Upper Indian Creek cemetery."
