Mr. Auen of Blairsville was the son of Charles E. and Hazel Bricker Auen. He was a 50-year member of Acacia Lodge #355 F&AM, Blairsville, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Coudersport 33rd degree, Jaffa Temple, Jaffa Shrine Club Lil Vette Unit, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Westmoreland Forest #77, 313 Royal Arch in Indiana, Pa., Indiana County Shrine Club, Indiana County Consistory Boosters Club, B.P.O.E. #406 of Blairsville, VFW Post #5821 of Blairsville, American Legion Post #57 of Saltsburg, International Association Legions of Honor, and the Blairsville Cemetery board of directors. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. Mr. Auen was the owner of Auen Plumbing and Heating, Blairsville, from 1960 until his retirement in 1990. Surviving are his wife, Ilene M. Reagan Auen, whom he married Aug. 29, 1992; two sons, Donald G. Auen, and Dean K. Auen; a daughter, Daryl Seitz and her husband, Robert; a grandson, Joshua Seitz, currently serving in Iraq; an aunt, Martha Campbell; five brothers, Wayne and his wife, Florence, Carl and his wife, Annabelle, Marlin and his wife, Lorraine, Edward and his wife, Dorothy, and Stanley and Sue; and five sisters, Doris Latham and her husband, John, Joann Clawson and her husband, Ronald, Arlene Barnhart and her husband, Paul, Audrey Brinker and her husband, Milton and Judy Jobe. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Iola Mikesell Auen, on Feb. 15, 1991; a son, David O. Auen, in 1968; and a sister, Alma Buttkevits, in 1971. Mr. Auen died at age 84 in the VA Pittsburgh Health System, in Pittsburgh's Oakland section.
