Bentonville - Franklin Homer Banks, 68, widely known retired business man of Bentonville, died at Bates Memorial Hospital Thursday at 11 a.m. He bacame ill at his home here New Year's Day. Born and reared in Brightwater, near Rogers, he was the son of pioneer settlers. During his business career he operated and owned businesses in Southwest City, Mo., and Hiwasse. He opened the Banks produce business in Bentonville in 1929, and owned extensive properties in this area. He was a member of the Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Elizabeth Burnett Banks; three sons, Curt Banks of Kansas City, Carl Banks and Harold Banks of Bentonville; three sisters, Mrs. Joan Payton of Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Otis Clanton of Bentonville and Mrs. John Rudishauser of Portland, Ore.; three brothers, Virgil L. Banks of Hiwasse, Armon Banks of Portland, Ore., and Albert Banks of Sacramento, Calif.; and four grandchildren. Funeral service will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the First Christian Church of Bentonville by the Rev. Frank Barrow, a Christian Church minister of Hiwasse and the Rev. Frank Soofield, pastor of the Bentonville Christian Church. Burial will be in the Bentonville cemetery under the direction of Burns Funeral Home.
