Brief Life sketch written March 9, 2012 by his Great Granddaughter, Nadine Deakin Sharpe

Joseph Smith Clements was given a name and a blessing by Joseph Smith Sr, the father of the prophet Joseph Smith.

Leaving Nauvoo with his mother at age nine, he traveled west with the Mormon pioneers. His mother Deborah Ann Price Clements, pregnant with twins when they left to go west with the saints, delivered the baby girls on the plains of Nebraska of July 6, 1852. Six days after the birth of his sisters, Joseph would have spent his tenth birthday on the plains while traveling with the saints. It is not known which company they came with. Of the eleven children born to Joseph W and Deborah P Clements, these three children were the only three to live to be adults.

It is also unknown when or why Joseph's mother divorced his father. It is known that she married Samuel Turnbow on Nov. 27, 1854 in Utah and he was good to the children. Joseph Smith Clements was sealed to Samuel Turnbow and his mother Deborah Ann Price Clements in the Salt Lake Endowment house while he was still living - - before her death in 1858

On January 15, 1865 Joseph married Roxie Ann Baker (30 Apr 1849 - 12 May 1905) Twelve children were born to this union.

The 1880 Census lists his birthplace as MO and his mother's and father's as NJ
