Dan McGowan dies here at age of 66

Dan J. McGowan, 66, of 121 North 67th place, died Monday in a local hospital after a sudden illness.

Rosary will be said at 8 tonight at Johns-Ridout's Southside Chapel.

FUNERAL SERVICES will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Johns-Ridouts's Southside Chapel and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Barnabas Catholic Church with the Rev. Dan O'Reilly officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill.

Mr. McGowan was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., but had lived here since childhood. During his youth he was an active athlete in Birmingham. He was retired two years ago from TCI where he was an assistant metallurgist at the tin mill. He was a former commander of Ensley Post, American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruby Wells McGowan; a sister, Mrs. Alice Stribling; three brothers, Joseph McGowan, Frank McGowan and John McGowan.

Pallbearers will be Tom Clowdus, James Stouffer, Walter Gravelee, C. M. Sharp, William Hood and Frazier Douglas.
