Effie May Broshears was the daughter of Isaac Broshears and Hannah Rena Voyles. She was raised in Boonville, Indiana with her sister Ella Selma, and brothers Sylvester and Joseph William.

Effie married John W. Lynch on June 11, 1900. To this union were born a daughter, Grace and two sons, Frank and Orville Gilbert. Effie was only 25 years old when she died. Her husband John moved to Arkansas with the children shortly after her death. Raising his young family alone proved to be too much for him, and Effie's sister Ella stepped in. Ella traveled to Arkansas to collect the children, and returned with them to Indiana. Ella and her husband John Palmer raised the children.

Effie's original burial place was noted as Newburgh Cemetery, AKA Myrtle Ridge Cemetery. Her grave was moved to Rose Hill, along with many others, possibly due to issues caused by underground mines around the site.

Effie was my paternal great-grandmother, through her son Orville Gilbert.
