Ivan Hugh Smith, 90, Corydon, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at Golden Guardians Care Center in Corydon.

Born March 19, 1918, in Harrison County, he was the son of the late Ivan L. and Ollie Stover Smith.

He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and a retired equipment operator for U.S. Steel Homes.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ivan Hugh Smith Jr.; a daughter, Diana Kay Smith Rose; a grandson, Michael James Rose; five sisters, Elma Kintner, Margie Albin, Roma Stephenson, Angeline Reasor and Belle Stockson; and five brothers, Paul, Charles, Albert, Lowell and Joseph Dean Smith.

Survivors include his wife, the former Agnes Crecilius; a sister, Nelle Stewart of New Middletown; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Thursday, Feb. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 13, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 14, after 9 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.

Funeral: Saturday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.

Officiants: Pastors Rick Utz and James Wolfe.

The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society.
