Our beautiful mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away on February 12, 2009 at Alta Ridge Assisted Living Center in Sandy, Utah in the loving arms of her daughter Dianne.


She was born October 16, 1923 to Enoch and Nettie Anderson. Thelma married Robert Martin Overby in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together they were blessed with five children. Thelma was a noble spirit who was compassionate and understanding of the people around her. She had an unselfish devotion to her loving family and friends. She had a strong love for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.


Thelma was a pioneer in the field of health and fitness. She was the Women's Director for the European Health Spa/ Spa Fitness for many years. Thelma joined the Freedom Force Group that was started by President Jimmy Carter. With them she traveled to many countries including Russia and China to promote peace between nations. Thelma was a beautiful artist and seamstress.


She is survived by her son Robert (Shaunda) Martin Overby, Jr.; daughters Carol Dianne VanVactor and Kristy (Gary) Ann Hose; sister Donna Larsen; sister-in-law Dorie Anderson; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Overby, Sr.; son Bobby Lee Overby; daughter Barbara Overby Sherman; sisters Lara Passey, Ruth Spencer and Shirley Jean Wertz; brothers Robert and James Anderson.


Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at 12 noon at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, where friends and family may call from 11:00-11:45 a.m. prior to the services.
Interment to follow in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
