SHREVEPORT, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of Lola McMenis will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2008 at Word Of God Ministries, 5895 Bert Kouns, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be her son, Pastor James A. McMenis. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park.
Mrs. McMenis was born on July 27, 1937 in Center, Texas to Earnest and Claudia Byrd. She passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 8, 2008. She was a resident of Shreveport, where she was a homemaker and a member of Word Of God Ministries. She was a loving caring wife, mother, grandmother, and will be truly missed. "Ms. Lola" welcomed any and all into her home, sharing her gift of hospitality. One of her greatest joys was cooking and ministering to others.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jessup "Al" McMenis, sister, Patsy Dominick and brother, Jerry Byrd.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, James A. McMenis and wife Chrissy, and Gary Terry; daughters, Paula Terry Clark-Futch and husband Vinson, Patricia Romero and husband Allen; sister, Earline Burnley; brothers, Emmett Byrd and James Guy Byrd; grandchildren, Angela Ragon, Richard Clark, Stephanie Perry, Jacob Perry, James Christian McMenis, Jaron McMenis and Lana McMenis.
Honoring her as Pallbearers will be Richard Clark, Jacob Perry, Allen Romero, Vinson Futch, Steve Nichols and Mark Tucker.
The family wishes to send a special "Thank You" to Dr. Haun Le, Dr. Charles Byrd and Dr. Gazi Zibari; many other doctors and the entire staff of Willis-Knighton Medical Center for their loving care and support; also to the family of Word Of God Ministries for their love, prayers, and support.
