Crossville Chronicle March 8, 1934
On Sunday about 2 p.m. Will Phipps passed away. He had been confined to his room for some 3 months, having first been attacked with ulcerated stomach, later developing into heart trouble and then to something like some form of dropsy, which, like most other cases of similar nature, resulted in his death.
Mr Phipps had lived at Mayland some 8 years, was counted as one of the best citizens this or any other community could boast. Kind, helpful, generous and not able to claim a single enemy.
The remains were laid to rest in the Mayland cemetery Monday afternoon.
Mr Phipps formerly resided in Overton county, coming to Mayland some years ago. He leaves a wife, one daughter and one son, married, and two sons at home.
