Mrs. Pollock was born on Easter Sunday, April 4, 1915, in Kempsville, Princess
Anne County, Va. She was the widow of Swindell Pollock and the daughter of the
late Edgar Ivy and Alexina Ewell Herrick. She graduated from Kempsville High
School in 1932 and prior to her marriage, worked for the Princess Anne County
Clerk of Court.
Mrs. Pollock was a past member of Trenton, Kempsville, and Westwood Hill Baptist
churches. In service to the Lord, she was active in WMU work, was a Royal
Ambassador leader, a YWA leader, taught Bible studies, and Couples and Ladies
Sunday School classes. She was past president of Kempsville Woman's Club.
She is survived by her son, Dan Herrick Pollock and wife, Velna, of
Winston-Salem, N.C.; her daughter, Fran Pollock Grochmal and husband, David, of
Virginia Beach; her beloved grandchildren, Arianne Kathleen Pollock, Neil Edward
Grochmal and Anne Ewell Grochmal; and her sister, Frances Herrick Hutchison.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at her home. Burial
will be private. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at 2
p.m. Friday at Thalia Lynn Baptist Church by Dr. Mark Olson. Hollomon-Brown
Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, is in charge.
