Dovie is a daughter of John Canada (Canaday) and Martha Phillips Canada. John and Martha were born in Wayne County Kentucky. I have not found Dovie's birth certificate but have found two census records stating she was born in Kentucky and one in Texas. Until I find it, we will go with Texas. Her mother and father migrated to Texas settling in both Archer and Jack County TX.
Dovie and Ellis Black had 4 sons; Marvin Edward born 1909-1943; Thurman Benjamin Black 1912-1994; Glenn Clyde Black 1914-1991; and Doyce Ray 1927-1993.
Also, FAG has an Ellis H Black and a Dovie Bingham, daughter of Thomas Sidney Bingham born in MS and Victoria Britt Bingham with the children of my Dovie Canada and Ellis Black (no middle initial). There is much confusion over this. Please note that the 1900 Census shows Dovie Canada, age 10, living with her parents John and Martha Canada in Archer TX and the 1900 Census shows Dovie (Dovia) Bingham living with her parents Thomas Sydney Bingham and Victoria in Comanche TX.
Please note: Ellis is the son of Emerine Corder Black and his death certificate supports he does not have a middle initial and Marvin Black's death certificate shows his parents as being Dovie Canada and Ellis Black!!!
