Minnie Bell Drake, 97, of 406 E. 6th st Clare, died at the Ardis Nursing Home in Farwell on Sept 22nd following a long illness.
She had made her residence at the Ardis Nursing Home for the past 15 years. She was born the daughter of Thomas and Margaret Bell in London, Ontario, Canada on March 17, 1879.
She came with her parents to Sheridan Township, where her early years were spent on the farm. As a girl she attended the Carrow School.
Minnie married Governor Drake, on Feb 25th 1919 in the home of her sister, Mrs. C.C.Knapp, the couple later moved to Detroit and Mrs. Drake returned to Clare in 1949 after the death of her husband, Eight sisters and 2 brothers preceeded her in death.
Surviving are 1 brother, John Bell of Clare, a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation services were held Thursday evening from the chapel of Brokering Funeral Home.
Graveside services from the North Farmington Cemetery on Friday September 24 at 3:00 P.M.
My Aunt Minnie and her Husband Uncle Gov didn't have any kids of their own. They didn't need them they would say, they had everyone else's to play with and spoil. Unfortunately I don't remember her. I now wonder who took care of her since she lived to almost 100 and had no kids.
