William Bell, aged 25 years, 4 months and 11 days, whose home was two miles east of Colonyille, Sheridan, was accidentally killed, Saturday, November 6, ’97, white working in the woods near Ashland, Wis. The remains arrived Thursday of this week, accompanied by John Roe, who went with the deceased to Wisconsin last summer, and the funeral sermon was preached in the Sheridan Baptist church by the Rev. A. W. Choate, and the remains interred in Cherry Grove cemetery. The deceased was a member of the Knights of the Maccabees, in which order be carried $2,000 insurance. The young man, we are told, was bright, light-hearted and industrious and had many friends where he was known. (The Clare Sentinel, p. 1 - Clare, MI - 12 November 1897)
