Wife of Hiram Yockey. Daughter of Adam & Elizabeth Long Everhard.

Medina County, Ohio death certificate #16058

Pioneer Resident of Wadsworth Succumbs at Portage-St Home:

The death of Mrs. Hiram Yockey occurred at her home, on Portage-St Sunday, death being due to broncho-pneumonia.

Mrs. Yockey was one of Wadsworth's pioneer women, whose lives have been spent in a quiet way but whose influence has been far-reaching. The seeds of an upright life are sown in many unheard-of places and makes for better citizenship and a better world. Not in te glare of the spotlight nor in the halls of fame are these pioneer mothers known but their influence and love extends over the circle in which they live and move and sheds a beauty beside which a spectacular public life fades into insignificance.

Quiet and home loving was this pioneer mother whose life span was far more than the allotted three score years and ten.

Anna Everhard, daughter of Adam and Elizabeth Everhard, was born in Wadsworth-tp, Mar. 31, 1843, and died Feb. 17, 1929, aged 85 years, 10 months and 17 days. Her entire life was lived in and near Wadsworth.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at Doylestown on Sept. 18, 1857 by Rev. D. Rothacker, later transferring her membership to Trinity Reformed church at Wadsworth where she was a faithful member for many years.

Miss Everhard was married to Hiram Yockey on Oct. 24, 1866 and to this union were born four children, Walter A. of Crozet, Va., Amretta, Leora (Gilbert) and Ina Oakes. She was preceded in death by her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Gilbert. In addition to the three surviving children, other members of her immediate family are a grandson, Ernest Gilbert; a brother, Henry Everhard of Wadsworth, and one sister, Mrs. Lavina Rhoades of Philadelphia.

Hilliard & Son were in charge of the funeral services which were held from the funeral home on N. Lyman-St Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. E. E. Zechiel coming over from Akron to officiate. Burial was made in Woodlawn cemetery.
