Three In Family Die From Burns
Received When Stove Explodes
Mr. and Mrs. F. O. Bullard and their fourteen-months old granddaughter, Elaine Chapman, lost their lives when a stove in their home near here exploded early Friday morning. It is reported that Mr. Bullard was using kerosene to kindle a fire in the stove when the explosion occurred.
The family had moved to Monticello from Quincy only two weeks before the tragic fire occurred. Mr. Bullard had rented a farm at Lamont and the family moved into the nearest available residence, one located near the home of Mr. and Mrs. Miller.
Residing at home with their parents were three daughters, Margaret Bullard, Mrs. Harry Beaty and Mrs. Nina Chapman. The husbands of the two latter daughters are both serving in the armed forces overseas. The Bullard's are survived by two sons who are also overseas.
