Viola C. Bumps, 85, of China, Maine passed away on Monday, December 12, 2005, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Thayer Campus in Waterville, Maine. She was born in Troy on February 20, 1920, the daughter of the late Harry and Hazel (Knowlton) Cunningham. She was married to Carroll Bumps who passed away in December of 2001.
Mrs. Bumps was a devoted wife, mother, and Grandmother. She had a great love for gardening and her talents were enjoyed by all. Viola was a wonderful cook, and also had a passion for crafts, and watching her grandson's activities.
Mrs. Bumps was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in China.
She was predeceased by four brothers Hartley, Harry Jr., who passed away at infancy, Raymond and Paul; and two sisters Thelma Barry, and Julia Bumps.
Survivors include two daughters Dianne Higgins of China, and Beverly Gilbert and her husband Dale of Winslow; her grandson Gregory Gilbert and his wife Maureen of Gray; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm, on Saturday, December 17, 2005 at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main Street, Fairfield, Maine with the Rev. Ronald Morrell officiating. Burial will be held in the spring at Chadwick Hill Cemetery in China.
