Bible Hill - Ellroy FIELDING - 87, 67 Ryland Ave., Bible Hill, died Thursday at home.
Born in Brookfield, he was a son of the late Joseph and Rebecca (Burris) Fielding. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a retired barber, owing and operating Fielding's Barber Shop, Prince St., Truro, NS for 52 years. He was a well-known horseman, owing and raising his own horses for many years. He was active in hockey in Bible Hill. A former president of the Nova Scotia Barbers Association, Truro order, for two years, he was also a former member of the Canadian Order of foresters, the United States Trotting Association, and the Nova Scotia Horse Racing Association.
He is survived by two sons, Herman, Bible Hill; Ronald, Truro; a daughter, Patricia (Mrs Joseph Howell), Truro; 10 grandchildren; seven great-granddaughters.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Winnifred May Purdy; five sisters, Minnie, Melinda, Blanche, Florence, Ella; four brothers, Fred, Eugene, Winfred, Murray.
The body is in Mattatall's Funeral Home, Truro, visiting 7-9 p.m. today and Saturday, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Rev Dr. Malcolm Harlow officiating.
Burial will be in Bible Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, Truro, or the Nova Scotia Lung Association.
