In 2005, the Amelia Island and Jacksonville Chapters of Daughters of the American Revolution marked his gravesite with a formal service. According to the application on file at the NSDAR library, he fought in GA as a private and a document in the State of Georgia Archives was listed as the proof of service. Sixteen female descendants had joined NSDAR using this proof of service. In 2018 and after much research by several genealogists, there was no any documentation found in the GA Archives mentioning his service and at that point, any further applications to NSDAR will have to give new evidence of his proof of service. The original NSDAR plaque on his marker was stolen and the chapter replaced it before 2018. The original document may have been lost, misplaced, or stolen from the archives.
