Lorrin Way was the son of Jasper and Betsey Odiorne Way of Lempster, New Hampshire.
Lorrin Way was a farmer although at one time he was engaged in the meat and provision business in Lowell, Mass.
Some notes say he farmed in Rochester, Vermont but later returned to Lempster, N.H.in a home belonging to his father. In 1853, his son Samuel purchased him the old Jasper Way farm to which he removed and lived until his death. "He was a powerful built man, about five feet, ten inches in height, with broad shoulders and weighing about two hundred pounds; dark brown hair. He died on the Way farm 18 August 1857, age 61 years, one month, eighteen days. His death was supposed to have been caused by drinking water which came some distance through a lead pipe"
He married 25 Feburary 1816 Lettice Caldwell Alds who was born 5 March 1797 at Peterborough, New Hampshire. They were divorced in 1829.
Children, all born Lempster, were Samuel Alds 1816, Erastus William 1818, Jasper 1820, Martha Jane 1822, Sarah Jane, 1824 (died 1841), Addison 1826, and John Metcalf 1829.

Lettice Way is at Rochester, Windsor County, Vermont in 1830 and 1840. She married second John Whitten on 26 March 1831 at Rochester, Vermont. He died 16 July 1845 at Rochester.
In the 1850 census, Lettice Whitten, son Charles Whitten 18, born Vermont, son James Whitten 10, born Vermont and Samuel Spafford age 9 months, grandson, born Vermont. (Samuel is the son of Lettice's daughter Martha Way.)
