Professional Basketball Player, Coach. An influential person during 37 years in the early stages of professional basketball, "Pop" Morgenweck ran teams in ten different leagues in 18 cities major U.S. cities. He began as a player coach in the National League in 1901 and won the championship with the Camden Electrics in 1904. He retired from playing in 1916 to center on promoting and coaching. He took the Patterson (NJ) Legionaires to the Metropolitan League championship in 1923. During the same time, he took the Kingston Colonials to the New York State championship, and in 1928 he took them to the Metropolitan League championship. By the time he retired in 1938 he had over 500 victories to his credit. He was enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1962.
