Belteshazzar Dragoo Jr. purchased the land that the Dragoo family farm was located on, South of Franklin (and North of Edinburgh), in Johnson County Indiana, from the U.S. government in a land patent in 1825. This farm was later taken from his Great-grandson Albert Dragoo over 100 years later, by the U.S. government, to build a U. S. army camp named Camp Atterbury in 1942. (Google: "Camp Atterbury, Indiana").

Daniel Dragoo Sr.'s grandfather, Belteshazzar Dragoo Sr., was the first permanent settler in Brown County Ohio in 1794. A monument, on Scoffield Road, near Ripley, in Union Township, Brown County Ohio, was erected for him by the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution), to mark the site of his log cabin. He was also a soldier in the American Revolutionary War. For his service during the Revolutionary War, he received a land grant of 450 acres in the Virginia Military District land. He married Martha Hannah Butler and they had 12 children. They joined the shaker religion, and are buried in a shaker cemetery in unmarked graves, in Ohio.
------------------------------------
Daniel Dragoo [Sr.] married Abigail Poe, on Aug. 23, 1832, in Brown County Ohio. She is the daughter of Christopher Poe and his first wife Mary Hillman (and their only child). Abigail was born Jan. 15, 1816 in Ohio. (Note: After Abigail's mother Mary died in 1818, Cristopher Poe was married to Elizabeth Line, and they had 7 or 8 children). Abigail died Sept. 9, 1886 in Johnson County Indiana, at the age of 70 years, 7 months, and 25 days.
-----------------------------------
Note: Daniel and Abigail Dragoo had a son named Daniel W. Dragoo [Jr.] (who died on Jan. 29, 1852, at 15 days old), and also a grandson named Daniel Dragoo (who died Dec. 29, 1863, at five years, 10 months, and 10 days old).
------------------------------------
Note: Two of Daniel and Abigail Dragoo's sons, John Nelson Dragoo, and Belteshazzar Dragoo III, served side-by-side in the Civil War, in Company F, of the 7th Indiana Infantry. Belteshazzar was killed in action on May 24, 1864. His brother John was by his side, when he died. Belteshazzar was buried on the South bank of the North Anna River.
